I tried to make a green smoothie right after buying this unit at Target. The blades and container shape seemed to make a perfect vortex. However, the motor was obviously not up to the task of grinding raw vegetables and fruits, as it started smoking and completely died. Smelled horrible, too. Guess I have to spend $400 on a Vita-mix or something. Obviously these cheap blenders don’t possess the power necessary for my lifestyle.

Lesson: Check the sturdiness of the plastic caps of your blender before purchase.
After 6 months of sporadic use, the base cap to this blender cracked slightly. After 8 months, it’s completely in pieces. Now I’m no muscle man and I wash all the parts by hand, so it’s more than a little disappointing when the cap cracks and a replacement is not covered under their 1-year warranty and I have to fork over $5-10 to buy the part.
It was a good blender for juices (not so good for more viscous stuff) and pretty easy to clean. I especially liked that the jar was made of glass instead of plastic. But no more Oster brand for me after this.

only used the blender twice to make smoothies. the second time there was a metallic sound and it quit working. i could hear something rattling around inside it so after turning it over and noticing that only two screws held it together, i removed the screws, pulled it gently apart and found that the nut had come off of the motor shaft. i screwed it back on tightly and now the blender works again. fairly simple repair, but still shouldn”t have had to be done.

Man, this blender is a great little bargain! Seems to be very well-made, for $30 at Target, I feel like it was an excellent choice. We’ll see if she stands up to the test of time, but so far (3 months) going strong…

since we first received this blender, we’ve been using it pretty much every single day to make smoothies. thus far, no issues yet, and it seems quite powerful and sleek all in one pkg. not to mention it has a real glass container and everything’s dishwasher safe too. recommended!
